Oh, Lisa, I truly hate to tell you this. I had this exact thing happen to my
BN and had to send it back for repair. I tried everything, but it needed the
trip to the hospital.

Subject: [Braillenote] BrailleNote 32 BT Battery Question

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question regarding the battery in
my BrailleNote 32 BT. <smile> As you may remember, I was unable to receive
any output (Braille or speech) from the BrailleNote even with the adaptor
plugged in.

Here is an update on what has happened since then...

I left my BrailleNote plugged into the adaptor over the past several days in
the hopes that it would start working again after being fully charged.

When I turned on my BN this morning I was able to cycle through the various
menu items using speech, but not Braille. I tried to set the BN to "speech
off" by pressing the space bar with thumb key to toggle between the various
speech modes (speech on, speech on request, speech off), but kept hearing
the message, "The Braille display is not operating." I went into the Options
menu to turn the Braille display on, but when I pressed "Y," nothing
happened.

Could these symptoms be an indication that the Braille display needs
repair -- or is there another way I can reactivate it?

At this point I'm relieved to have speech, but I'd be even happier if I
could get the Braille display working properly once again. <smile>

Lisa
