Yes, if the battery completely and utterly dies, it is the equivalent of a 
4-5-6 reset.

Thanks for that clarification. I hadn't done a 456 reset before losing
my books, but the battery did go flat once which probably accounted
for the loss. Needless to say I won't be saving anything to the
keysoft disk again.
