Dear Sharon,
Yes, you can translate a document into grade 1 braille. Follow these steps:
1. Type the letter using the QWERTY keyboard. Don't create a braille
document using the home row, just type the letter.
2. At the top of the letter, press read control b. Type the number 1.
You should see the computer braille dollar sign g number sign 1. If you
don't see this, press the enter key to create a blank line and try the steps
again. In Keysoft 5.1, I have always needed to add a blank line to the top
of the document for this feature to work. Perhaps you won't have to do that
with your version of Keysoft.
3. Go to the end of the letter. Press read control b and type the number
2. You should see computer dollar sign g number sign 2.
4. Now, translate the letter into braille. Because of the codes you have
added, it will be translated into grade 1 braille.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

Subject: [Braillenote] Embossing in grade one
Hi, I have a friend that I want to write to in Braille and she only knows
grade one Braille at the moment. So I was wondering if there was a way to
emboss in grade one only? I have looked in the embosser set-up list but
there is nothing there so I'm not sure where else to look. I am using a
Braille note QT running 6.11. Any Suggestions?
Thanks,
From Shaz.
