HI Listers:

Please forgive me if you have already discussed this subject in the
past.

I recently sent in my BN QT 32 for the transplant and just got my
BN MPower back. It's great and much faster than the BN Classic.
However I am experiencing rapid battery drain and have a few
questions.

I did follow the directions and recharged the BN MPower for more
than three hours and reset it before i sued it. I should also add
that I use braille only and have speech turned off.

I am seeing the battery drain at least 10% a day when not in use
(by getting the battery gauge from READ + eSC). Also, when I read
a document in braille and don't use auto scroll, the battery drains
about 8% in one hour. This is close to the battery performance on
my classic BN before I sent it in (the battery on my classic BN had
not been replaced since I bought it almost 3 years ago).

Here are my questions:

1) Were we supposed to get a new battery with the transplant? when
I spoke to Humanware before the transplant, they assured me I would
get a new battery. However in view of the rapid battery drain, I'm
wondering.

2) How many h ours of usage should we be getting on one charge of
the BN MPower?

3) All batteries drain a certain percentage a day. What is the
daily percentage drain of the BN MPower battery drain if you don't
use it that day? I'm feeling that a battery drain of 10 - 12% in
24 hours is pretty high for a new battery. On the BN Classic it
was 6% at the beginning, but some of it was for the clock. I have
the impression the clock on t he BN MPower is powered separately.

I should also mention that even though I told Humanware on the
phone and in a letter I enclosed with the BN Classic that two
braille cells needed to be fixed, they didn't fix these two cells.
I am disappointed because it means I have to return the BN MPower
to get these two cells fixed. I'm wondering about the rapid
battery drain and would like feedback.

If you respond to this message, please also send a Cc to me
directly because I get the BrailleNote Digest and therefore get it
once a day and would like to see your responses as soon as you send
them.

thanks for your help!
