Hello Paul, The r option in the support information menu is the new way that one calibrates their battery.
Due to the change of gauge in the mPower, it now takes two or three battery cycles for the gauge to learn the exact battery values and to give an accurate reading. Therefore, the r option will do an initial charge if necessary and then electronically disconnect the AC adapter for a discharge. Once it cycles to the point where the gauge is satisfied so to speak, the status reading, which is obtained by pressing space, will show this accordingly and there should be an appropriate message once the charge has completed.
