It is an option.

Select the folder which has the sub folders. While the cursor is on it press dots 5 6 with spacebar on a BT Keyboard. I think you will hear something like subdirectories of your selected folder. Go through those with dots four or 1 with spacebar till you find the one you want and press enter. You should hear what you selected and I think you should get the list of files within that directory. To go back to the root folder, press spacebar with dots 2, 3 and you will be back to the root. I often place books as directories and each file in the book is in that directory but each book is in the my books folder.
