That's all well and good--that protects the Braillenote from any viruse that could be run without hte knowledge of teh person running it... but even so, isn't it at least theoretically, if not reasonably, possible? Haven't there been viruses written for Windows CE 4.2? If not, well, why not really, other than that people don't care? I refuse to believe that Microsoft can be that compitant as to make a virus-proof OS. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rusty Perez" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Subject: Viruses Was RE: [Braillenote] software development kit?

Hi folks,
Here is a copy of a message I received from Dean on the topic of viruses.

Hello Rusty,

As Technical support have correctly advised you, the BrailleNote is not
vulnerable to viruses. As you have requested, I will outline a few reasons
below
for your IT staff:

1. No activex controls are run in the Internet Explorer browser if loaded
in an opened page.
2. Any Word file that is opened on the BrailleNote goes through an RTF
converter which only strips the text from the file.
3. Any attachments received via email will not execute directly from the
email client and HTML email is not supported.

I can assure you that our technical support staff around the World, for
these and other reasons, have not had to deal with even one related virus or
spyware
caused problem.

There is no virus checker that will run on the BrailleNote and our latest
software runs on Windows CE 4.2.

If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards
