I really seriously considered just getting an mPower with a brand new Braille display. But then I started thinking about the cost of a new mPower, as well as the cost of a new GPS for that new mPower (as opposed to the free transfer of my old GPS to the new serial number because I was doing the transplant). I decided that, for myself, I couldn't justify paying that extra money, to say nothing of having two units when I really only needed one. BTW, in my experience from past upgrades, if you're due for an upgrade and your old unit needs servicing and you don't want to have to send it in twice within just a few days or weeks, you can talk to Humanware, and they're more than willing to work with you on this.

This is Joseph. I personally have a BrailleNote Classic BT18 with KeySoft 6.11. I don't have a mPower. But I can give you some infoamation about transplant Vs. nwe mPower.
1. The cost. Transplant only costs $1995. The nwe mPower costs over $4000.
2. Reasonable upgrade. You can send your old unit, and receive a brand new unit with one exception: the braille display. What HumanWare staff does is that they take out your braille display and inserts into a new mPower. So you'll have a nwe unit with your old braille display in place of new braille display. For more information you can contact Jonathan Mosen of HumanWare. His e-mail address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] I hope this information may help you. Thanks.
