Duxbury is the Cadillac of all translation software.

Duxbury is only going by the rules of the braille code. If you want something to be translated as computer braille, then you must surround the text with the codes. This concept is true for any translation program, not just Duxbury. You can't just say, "this is a disadvantage of Duxbury." You can't expect any software program to automatically translate computer braille symbols as computer braille and not grade 2. You must edit the document yourself. Even when a feature to automatically translate certain symbols as computer braille is implemented, it must be programmed into the system. A human being has to make this implementation happen. It's unrealistic to expect any software program to always translate perfectly without human intervention.

This is a disadvantage of using the Duxbury translator.

I wondered why symbols like tilde, backslash, and I think greater
than, are spelled out. I noticed that about the bookshare translator
also and don't know why it wouldn't just put in the symbols.
