The cost of the service agrement is about 10% of the cost of the device you
purchased and it is paid each year. My 18-cell BN cost $3900 when I
purchased it 4 years ago and I pay about $390.00 per year for the service
agrement. I took a chance and did not pay the cost for a year and the BN
stopped working and it cost me $1500.00 to get it repaired. I have paid the
$390.00 since that time. I can't remember the cost of the SMA which stands
for software maintenance agrement but it includes 2 upgrades if you purchase
it. You can also purchase each upgrade as it is available but it costs
significantly more to do that. If your employer offers a flexible spending
account you can have money taken from your paycheck and put in that account
to pay for the SMA but it cannot be used for the service agrement.
