Hi Diane and all, Thanks for your message which made perfect sense. I guess, being so used to desktop, I keep looking for more direct solutions. I had played with 56-chord and of course had got there.
It seems that, when the linking process is done, the Braille is where you want it but not the speech. Have I got this right? It would really speed things up if we could rout speech to Braille <Smile> Can we? Have I missed it? Pam, thanks also for your info which helped me to know I was on the right track. -- Carol [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Diane Kelker Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2005 6:04 AM To: Braillenote List Subject: re: [Braillenote] BEGINNING TO USE THE INTERNET Hi, Carol, When you move to a link whose subject you wish to read by pressing ENTER, your cursor may still be a long, long way from the actual text. Using the BT keyboard, you may need to press the 5-6 ENTER chord as few as one time or as many as six before the article really begins. Since all web pages vary widely in layout, you simply have to repeat the sequence until you reach pay dirt. (The QT command equivalent is FUNCTION WITH ENTER pressed repeatedly.) After reading your original message using the PK, I temporarily left KEYMAIL by pressing the 2-3-5 SPACEBAR followed by I to open the KEYWEB browser. I then typed in the URL for: www.rnib.org.uk ' searched for What's New by repeatededly pressing W and using the 5-6 ENTER chord from there. Finally, I repressed the 2-3-5 with spacebar and E to return to your email. (Again, the QT keyboard equivalent is: FUNCTION WITH ENTER.) Hope this makes sense, and please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Happy surfing!
