Hi,

There are I guess really three bif players on the market for braille
notetakers. They are Humanware, Freedom Scientific and GW Micro.

Humanware as I'm sure you know make the braille note and Mpower Freedom
Scientific make pac mate and GW Micro and HIMs (in Korea) make the
Braille Sense.

Each has their advantages and disadvantages; Braillenote and Mpower are
very reliable, and the menu system is very intuitive. But perhaps you'd
be better off asking someone who has had more experience with the
Braille note family of products for thoughts here.

The Pac Mate is the only braille note taker on the markdt as far as I
know which uses mainstream software, and so can be expanded. But unlike
the braillenote and mpower, it is not as reliable, as I have heard tha
it frezes occaisionally and needs considerable resetting which can be
inconvient. The pac mate comes with a 20 or 40 cell display, which can
be detatched and used with either a pc or a laptop. whereas the braille
note and braille sense comes with a 32 cell display.

The braille sense comes with a removable battery, which neither of the
other tow come with, which means that if the unit needs to be sent back
you can simply get a new battery or even use the braille sense unit
without a battery.

These are some of the advantags and disadvantages of these proeucts, but
if you would like any further info, you can eithe contact me and I can
give you my impressions of these products from what I know and what I've
read, or you can also look on the following websites:
