Hi Sharon, Welcome aboard - I've seen your questions about this matter on other lists! I went for PK in preference to other devices and haven't been the least disappointed with it to date. The menu structure is very logical, and the context help is excellent and concise too. Battery seems to deliver about 20 hours roughly speaking, although obviously that will depend on how much you use the system! I do find that using a flash card does run this down rather more quickly, but that's hardly surprising and would be true of any device! Having had quite a bit of experience with Braille systems, I certainly find the keyboard to be the quietest and easiest to write fast with, and since November when I received my machine, I haven't had a single mis-displayed character on the display yet, which is one hell of a record in the field of displays in my view! The on-the-fly Braille translation is also the most accurate of devices I've tried. Of course, it's not perfect, what is!! I still have an outstanding issue where my ISP won't accept email from my PK, I can only receive it; but this has long been acknowledged by both Dean and Jonathan on this list and I'm sure will easily be sorted out in an upgrade. In general, I'd say you won't be disappointed; what I would say is that you will find it of great advantage to have a PC available to use in conjunction with PK. Some people have criticised the system for not having, for example, print capabilities among other things. My answer to that is that it is specifically designed to be a PDA and not a laptop! PDAs are generally speaking designed to be used in conjunction with larger machines, and as such you'll get good results from PK. Keep us posted on your findings when you get it!

I am thinking, or rather hoping, to get a braillenote PK. I have seen a demo of one and was very impressed. I just wondered how some of you experienced users out there find them. Are they as good as the demo seemed to be. Are they reliable, and do they have a good battery life. Also, are they very hard to learn. Thanks in advance.
