Hi Kathy,

I use the windows advantage when locating files and directories. Let's keep the explanation simple for now. Let's assume you have a file called my grocery list. It is in the general folder. When I first started using my BN, I went into the word processer which was easy since it is the first menu item. I then menued down to a couple of choices which brought me to open a file. I would be asked a folder name upon entering the open file option. I then would push spacebar to get the directory list. I'd keep spacing till I heard the desired folder name general. When pressing enter there, I'd be asked for the filename? I'd either type in the filename of the desired file or I'd press spacebar till I got the file list and I'd keep spacing till I heard the file my grocery list. I'd press enter and I'd finally be there.

Now when using the windows advantage, this can be done much more quickly! From the main menu, type W for word processer then O to open a file. Just type w, then O. When asked for the folder, type spacebar to get into the list of folders. Type G for general and press enter. Keep typing the letter G if you have more than one folder which begins with the letter G. If the general folder is the only one, press enter. When asked for the filename, press spacebar to get the file list. Type the letter M which will bring you to all files beginning with M. Keep typing M till you hear or read my grocery list and press enter. To summarize, type from the main menu, w, o, spacebar to get into folder list, type G for general, when prompted for filename, type spacebar then the letter M. If my grocery list is your only file which begins with M press enter and you are there. If not, keep pressing M till you read or hear it and press enter.

Thank you, Jim, I had just started forwarding the messages I wanted to keep to my PC yesterday. That seems to work fine as they follow the original mail rules so end up sorted when they land as it were. I guess these days 16 MB isn't much at all, is it?

Every day I seem to be getting better at managing where things go and how to get them there.

I do have one question, is there a quick way to open a text file as one would open NOTEPAD on a PC. By the time I get through selecting the directory, folder, type of file I want, and all that, I've forgotten what it was I wanted to make a note of there. My short term memory is almost not there you see.
