That should be a place to rest your first finger not your thumb.
Sorry about that.

Cutting of canes may be posible, but I have never heard of it being done. I
have bought many a cane in my life and they are already made to different
lengths, at 2 inch intervals. They do make canes for children, because I
have seen children using them once in a blue moon.
Good luck finding what you need. My favorite cane is the gulf pride. It
has a leather handle with a flat place to rest your thumb. I also like the
50/50 cane. It folds in half for storage.

David,

Admittedly, I haven't had to purchase a cane from the NFB store in some
time. So, things might have changed. But, I've never heard of someone
purchasing a cane and having to cut it to the desired length for
him/herself. If this is, indeed true, it would be good to know. I'm not
sure that I'd want to try something like that, not knowing how to do it.

Dear Christain,

You can buy the NFB canes from the NFB store in Baltimore and they commonly
come in one length. You cut them to the size you want, in most cases.
Cane length is a personal thing and what works for one does not for others.
If you have length in mind, they may cut it for you at the store.

Hope this helps.
