When I had that problem, it turned out that an email I was attempting to download that wouldn't come was causing the problem. Every time I'd get off and go on again, the system would give me the error message you mentioned. Finally, at my wit's end after failing to delete the trouble from the server, I decided to do several things. First I noted the highest message number in the box before I emptied the mailbox, trashed everything, emptied the trash, and did all the resets, just to be sured everything was cleaned out. Next I went into my set-up options in email and set that message limit way down. Back on line I could accept the good messages, but when the troublesome one came, it was too long, so I managed to get the deletion option. Away it went. My email session finally finished a couple hundred messages later, I read them and went on my way! Maybe this can help you.
