Yes, a microdrive will work fine in a regular CF card reader. I got mine at:

www.compuplus.com

It's a Hitachi 6GB model, but they have 2 and 4 GB for cheaper. I will point
out that a microdrive is slower accessing files than a CF card, so there's a
trade off. I like my 6GB microdrive a lot, but I will probably end up getting
an 8GB CF card when the price comes down.

ok. so now what I think I'll do is get a microdrive for the braillenote
classic. But where is the best place to get microdrives at? I prefer a
compact flash microdrive. Will a microdrive work in a card reader on my pc
so I can transfer files to it without having to use activesync?

Hi Josh,

Any type 1, (type I), Compact Flash card will work with the BrailleNote,
VoiceNote, and BookPort. However, because of the things the BP transfer
does, the files you send to the BP will not play or read using the BN or VN.
Also, the BP can't read files created on the BN or files that haven't gone
through the transfer tool

I have a microdrive for my BN and a 2GB card for my BP, and feel that it
works best for me to keep the two devices separate. You could just get 2
1GB cards, one for the BP and one for the BN. I don't think it would work
very well to switch cards out between the two. It wouldn't hurt either
device, but you won't be able to seamlessly deal with material with one
device if it's been put on the card by the other device.

I hope this makes sense and isn't too confusing.

Sarah

Hi,

Do they still make compact flash cards that will work with the braillenote
and voicenote and bookport? The bookport takes type I or type one cards. I'm
looking for a 1gb or 2gb card that will work with both the braillenote and
the bookport if such a thing exists. Or, would it just be more economical or
make more sense to buy a microdrive for my braillenote classic?

Josh
