Hi Vicky,

I think you are right on track! When listening to audio streams, putting in compact flash cards or drives, and maybe thumb drives, the battery is going to drain much faster, you will be taxing the battery at times but that isn't bad really. You are putting that battery to good hard use which may be a good thing in the long haul. I would try to get an average time between charges whether you are doing routine stuff as taking down information, reading, or whatever you normally do and see how long it can be used between charges. You should have a feel for this as you use it. I think this is a better indicator than the gage even though it is good to note whether the gage is accurate or not. I haven't found the gages and numbers to be all that useful but I think I have had good use of my battery between charges and I think that's all one needs to really pay attention to.

I used my mPower again last night on battery, and used the wireless and
streaming audio. I saw the gauge drop pretty regularly and evenly for quite
sometime. Then, within under two minutes from when I saw a percentage of
twenty-three, I saw the battery low message. So, I checked the gauge and
saw eight percent. Then, just to make sure , I checked again and saw that
eight percent. Then, within fifteen seconds or so, I got the battery
critical message. But, being prepared this time, I already had the AC
adapter ready to plug in, and so I did and the mPower kept right on playing
the audio stream to which I was listening. Then, I checked the gauge right
after plugging in the mPower and it showed nine percent. So, as long as I
know just when and what to look for, it isn't a problem for me. And, I do
get plenty of time between charges, well over four hours if just used
continuously for
wireless and streaming media with some checking of email at the same time,
and of course much more if used for other things over several days. So, now
maybe I'll try
and see what happens when I do indeed just use the mPower for other things
near the end of its charge, other than connectivity tasks, to see what
happens and just how much time I have when the battery gets that low.

I think the key here is how much time are you getting between
charges! That is really the bottom line here! If you are getting three
minutes between charges before the battery gives you a critical message,
then you do indeed have a problem with your battery! If you are getting 10
to 15, even 20 hours out of your battery between charges, your battery is
probably in pretty good shape. If you are only getting 99 percent out of
the gage, just plug it in till it reaches a hundred percent. I wouldn't
let this worry you all that much unless you are only getting a few minutes
to an hour between charges. If so, send it in. If not, enjoy using your
BN.
