As far as I can tell the announcement is not for a new network that is
found, but rather the repeated announcement that I am connected to my home
network. Turning off the announcement of new networks didn't stop the
"connected to home" message. My home network is certainly not knew or
changing constantly. :-)
Thanks for the message, though.
Maybe I need to ask how to let Humanware know that this message is annoying
and redundant, that is if it really is a separate thing that can't be
turned off in this version.

This is Joseph. Welcome! To turn of announcement of
new networks:
1. Go to Main Menu. From there open Options Menu with
SPACE with O.
2. From Options Menu, select Connectivity. The
connectivity menu appears.
3. Make sure that your WiFi card is inserted, and make
sure BN has recognized it. If it didn't do it at this
stage. If it did, select Wireless Ethernet.
4. Go to Wireless Ehernet Options. The configuration
options list appears.
5. On the configuration list, move to the item that
says, "notify when new networks are availible," and
type n to disable it. In the future you won't get
announcements about newly discovered networks.
6. Activate the changes by pressing SPACE with e, and
at the prompt, type y. The settings takes affect from
now on.
I hope this information may help you. If you need any
questions, feel free to send email to the mailing
list.

Hello,
I just got an upgrade to a BrailleNote MPower BT
with 32 cell display a
little over a month ago, and over all I am very
happy with it. I will have
several questions to ask, but I will start with the
simplest one to answer.
I hope I will also be able to answer a few questions
in turn.
My question is: Is there any possible way to turn
off the announcement of
your connection to a WiFi hotspot or router? I find
the constant
interruption very distracting and annoying. It gets
really bad if you are
trying to quickly do something online before your
battery dies because you
are bothered with "connected to Blablabla" and
"battery is low" and between
the two messages you can't get anything done. :-)

Which is pronounced correctly as Von Oasterwake.
At least keynote says it correctly with that
phonetic spelling.
