GPS is a navigational system.
1. Yes, you have to have maps
2. You can create vehicle and pedestrian roots manually, or the GPS will
create them for you.
3. You can virtually look at a city or any location before going. You
can virtually create and follow roots in virtual mode so you can have an
idea of what's around you.
4. You can find a particular area using the maps and look around at all
of the streets.
5. You can know what stores, restaurants, etc are around you. These are
called points of interest POI and there is a data base of them for all
over the world. You can have the GPS tell you which ones are near you
and you can search for a particular place. When a POI shows up, you can
get info about that point such as type, address, phone number, etc. You
can create your own POI's and share them with other people if you want.
For example I have my home as a user POI which means I created it
myself.
6. Way points, you can insert way points which are like little
electronic bread crumbs in to a root and the GPS will use them to give
you more info, for example, I can place a way point in a root and
describe it by saying, four way stop, or slight bend to the left, etc.
POI's and WP's can be inserted in to vehicle roots while moving as well.
s
7. Weather you create a manual root, or an automatic root, while
traveling it, if you go off root, you get a warning off root message and
when you arrive at your destination, you get a message saying you have
arived.
I hope this helps. Any other questions, just ask.

    hi there!
I often read about Braillenote and GPS, but I do not quite understand
what
you can do with it?
Can yoy tell your position at any time?
does it tell you whether you should go straight ahead or rutn to your
left
&/ right?
do you have to have particular maps?
best
Antonio
