Kathy,
To add to what Sarah has told you, this is a bug in KeySoft, which if I
remember correctly, has been rectified in KeySoft 6.2.

Kathy,
The software is very similar for both units, if not the same. BN and VN
users can use the same upgrades and the units have the same command
structure. The only difference is, of course, those commands that deal
with the Braille display, which are specific to the BN, including those
for thumb keys. These are part of the Braille display. (I can see why
someone would get confused by the thumb key option on the VN, since it's
not necessary.) I have read, over and over on this list, how people think
a BN won't do something a VN will do, and vice versa, and nothing is
further from the truth. Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong here, but
there isn't anything a VoiceNote can do that a BrailleNote can't do,
providing they are running the same version of Keysoft and have the same
hardware. They are pretty much the exact same animal, only one has a
Braille display and one does not.
I hope this clears things up a little. Smile.
Sarah

This was what I gathered, but if the software for the two units is
significantly different as stated during the discussion of upgrades, then
why does the voicenote have this unnecessary option in the options menu?
Are there really two complete upgrades, one for voicenote and the other
for braillenote? Why do I have this option?

Hmmm. I even took my voicenote out of its case, and I don't find
anything
across the front of its case. All the keys are accounted for on the
keyboard. I'm afraid I don't see what you are talking about,
