Hello, Dean

The setting in the forward translation for paragraph boundaries is set to I for indented or blank line. I have tried the other two choices as well, N and B, and made sure I started with a fresh test document in each case in case settings are retained with each individual document. I still can't get paragraph reading mode to work in my own documents.

If I add two manual spaces at the beginning of each paragraph as Rhonda suggested, then it works. But if I just press the enter key once and start entering text, it's not recognized as a paragraph. I do have braille documents as my default file type for new documents.

Just to cover all bases, though, is there a quick way to reset all the translation options back to factory defaults? I know they are identified in the manual, but it might help to ensure complete factory settings in case there is another option I have set wrong that might be causing this.

Hello Jean,

Since you have stated that navigating by paragraph is not a problem in the files that come as part of KeySoft, I need to ask you how you are defining your paragraphs? The paragraph boundary setting in the forward translation options will also determine how the next and previous paragraph commands interpret paragraph changes. However, if this is at its default setting, a
blank line or indented text should be detected as such.

Okay. As far as I can figure this out so far, here's what I think is
happening with moving by paragraph with space dots 2-3 or 5-6. . It
works fine in any text file. It works fine in any text file converted
to braille. It works fine in the Demonstration file included in the
General folder by Humanware. I gather this is a braille document
created just to play with. Notably, it has one carriage return to
separate paragraphs.

But I can't move by paragraph in any braille file I create. I've
experimented with as many combinations of reading mode and thumb key
combos, but no go. It wants two carriage returns in a braille file in
order to recognize it as a paragraph. All of the layout options are
unchanged.

Anyone have any ideas? Could this be a bug or something in 6.2? I
would assume one shold be able to move by paragraph in a braille doc you
create.

Jean
