When you are dealing with an RF signal, any time that signal has to pass
through anything such as an additional connector, some loss will occur. To
use the CF wireless card in the side slot, it would have to be placed into a
PCMCIA adapter, thus creating something else that the signal has to pass
through, creating some loss. I can't, however, imagine that the loss would
be that great. Most likely it would be barely noticable, but if your
connection is iffy for other reasons, a little loss can make all the
difference in the world.

Hi, Jane. I have the ambicon card. I have tried it both with the pcmcia
adapter and in the back and I don't notice any difference in signal
strength. I wonder why when others say you should notice a greater signal
strengh from the back slot.
