Hi All,
I have seen my mPower take 27 hours to complete the calibration
process. In my experience, if you just start the process and
leave it alone, it will eventually complete.

Hi Jim,
If you went into the support information mode and hit the letter
r to
recalibrate, the mPower will first charge up, and then it will
start the
talking and the discharge. If memory serves, it took mine around
three
hours for the initial charge, maybe eight hours for the talking
till my
battery is flat discharge, and then a few more hours for it to
charge up
again.

Hi Sara, Pam and list,
We checked her unit a few minutes ago from this writing and it
says
something about undergoing initial charge even though option O, P
says that
the battery needs to be calibrated in so many words. I'm not
certain what
is going on. She can at least use her unit for vital information
but we
don't know whether it is calibrating or charging or what. We'll
wait it
out longer and see. It did say the gage was inaccurate plus or
minus five
percent so we'll see what happens.

Hi Jim, Instead of pressing F from the support info menu, press R
for
recalibrate. Just make sure the unit is plugged in, and it
should take
care of the rest. It does sound like a few BrailleNotes might be
acting
strangely, though.

What does one do to get that I'm talking message? I tried doing
it the way
one use to get that message and it beeps on my unit. My wife is
now
getting a consistent message which is saying that the BN is
unable to give
an accurate percentage of how the battery is and it may need
calibrating
etc. This is the first time I have seen this happen.

Hi Pam,
Well, I guess you're right about this varying at least some from
machine
to
machine. But, with the recalibration discharge, my mPower BT32
usually
takes just about eight hours, give or take ten or fifteen minutes
on
either
side of that. Now, this doesn't count the initial charge, and
the
charging
up again after the discharge. But, rather, I'm just talking
about the
time
the BN talks until its battery goes flat.

I realize this varies, given that we all seem to have differently
behaving batteries. But I'm attempting recalibration now and
mine has
supposedly been discharging for eleven and a half hours now.
Given
that I know I don't normally get twenty hours of battery life,
I'm
beginning to have my doubts, wondering if for some reason the
electricity is still keeping my battery charged. Thanks.
Pam
