No, I believe the folder only default behavior is just keysoft. I don't
actually know much about Windows CE, but just a little about all kinds of stuff
without any actual hands-on experience. :-)

  Sarah,
This is really the first mobile device I have used so I did wonder if
the application centred approach was a Windows CE rather than a Keysoft thing.

Yes I had thought about the possibility that some documents could be opened
in more than one application but the number of possible applications is very
small and the extra step would be better than navigating around again to find
the file from a different application. Combined with the quirky folder /
directory toggling makes using the device very frustrating. Is this feature
inherited from Windows CE too?

I wonder if my issues with this device is because I am using it for serious
purposes rather than fun and so need to work with a large number of documents.
Messages on this list since I joined seem to be more concerned with fun
aspects. I am probably doing people a diservice but just a thought.

Oh well back to walking on my hands.

  Graham

I found the list of major improvements in 7 on the humanware website without
much searching. I don't think it talks about the bug fixes and minor changes
that were made, though, which would be nice to find.

I would like a little bit to be changed in the keysoft software when it comes
to file handling, but in case it gives you perspective, many operating systems
for small devices don't use file association in conjunction with a document
centric approach as most personal computer operating systems do. An extra
level of menu would be required because you never know wether something should
be opened in the word processor or the book reader. There is also the limiting
factor of the number of key combinations available. I think the company's
reason for making and leaving it the way it is was simplicity, however. I can
tell that some people need this simplicity, but I believe choices are always
good. :-) On the other hand, you get used to the system with experience and
learn how to get things one efficiently with the tools available.

Is there a list somewhere of the improvements to come with version 7?
Hopefully this will include file association with applications - how hard can
that be? and some rationalisation of the folder/directory views.

I am new to the BrailleNote family and to Keysoft and I have been trying to
grit my teeth about the design of the software but I have to say hardware is
good but software is pretty bad for something that has been around for a while
as I understand it.

I am sure that many users will now reply to say that they have no problems
with the way it all hangs together and I am sure you can get used to anythi8ng
in time like learning to walk on my hands but I would rather walk on my feet
like everybody else.
