Hi again Nicole and list,

The best thing you can do for the Braille Blazer is leave it at its default settings of 34 spaces in a margin. Only have the BN control the margins. If you have been changing Blazer settings, reset the Blazer completely by holding down the three vertical buttons while turning on the unit. If you haven't changed any Blazer settings, ignore that bit of advice. If you reset the Blazer, make certain the embosser port is set to parallel. In speech settings, set the port to off. Its default is serial. Get the synthesizer voice to sound the way you want it to sound. Slide the sprocket feed as far to the left as you can without it being obstructed by anything if you are using the pull in method. Set the right sprocket feed so that the paper will feed properly. If using the push out method, be sure the right sprocket feed is as far to the right as possible without it being obstructed by anything. Set the left sprocket feed accordingly so the paper feeds properly. The advantage of the push out method is that one doesn't have to waste a page of paper when embossing. By default, you are embossing 25 lines a page. A half inch or so at the top of the paper should be exposed so that the top of page shows as it should. If the braille is too close to the top of the page, use the rocker switch on the left hand side of the embosser to set the top of page properly. Each time that rocker switch is pressed, the top of form or if you please the top of page is reset.

Let's now deal with the BN settings. Open the document you wish to emboss. Type spacebar with dots 2, 3, 4, 6 to go into the format menu. Tap the spacebar till you hear page settings and press enter. You will see page settings list. Space till you hear paper width 40. If it says 40, type 32 right there to change that setting and press enter. Type E or Z with spacebar to get out of the format menu. You will be back in your document. Exit again and you will be back in Keyword menu. Type E to emboss a document. The BN asks "emboss or set up embosser? Type S to set up embosser. You will hear embosser setup list. You will hear paper width 25, paper width 40. Change that 40 to 32 and press enter. Space through the rest of the options till you hear "does your embosser emboss both sides of the page? No. If it says yes, change to no. If no, leave it as is. Space till you hear embosser port? Currently parallel. If it says anything other than parallel, change the setting so it says parallel unless you wish to emboss from the serial port. Should you emboss from the serial port, make certain your settings on the Blazer and BN match.

You should be good to go. I have never had a problem with page numbers going to another line. The key here is that the page settings margins and the embosser setup margins must match or you will find page numbering on the next line or the embosser kicks out blank pages before embossing another page etc. The only time I'd set a margin within the embosser itself is when I use 19 hole punch paper or hole punched paper. I would set the left margin in the embosser to margin 2. I'd set the right margin in the BN to 30 instead of 32. That's the only time I'd set any margin in the Blazer itself, otherwise I simply allow the BN to control all margins. I can give you a much more detailed setup between the BN and Blazer if you feel you need it. I think you should be fine with these settings.

I am embossing. I have a Braille Blazer. I'm not sure if that's the full name for it. I considered changing my page width, but then it changes for the whole paper, and I only want it for the first line.

Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

It sounds like you need to check the margin settings in both your BN and Embosser or printer. It would be helpful to know whether you are embossing or printing. What kind of embosser or printer are you using. Knowing this might be helpful in answering your question more directly.

Thanks!

Is there a way to emboss page numbers so that they appear on the same line as the first line of text instead of there own line? Also, has anyone else tried to apply for the Keysoft 7 drawing and received an error email?

Thanks,
Nicole
