Hello Kim and list:
<sigh>
>sigh>
<deep sigh>
Kim, have you guys any idea what it's like for me to search a website? Let
me tell you. No, I don't use the braillenote to do this. I refuse to
attempt to search a website with eight keys! It's like trying to move
using a volkswagen instead of a U-haul truck!
when I search a website, I have to use a cumbersome braille display which
freezes up on many pages. I've found that having to negotate the almost
identical looking pages three or four times to get to what I need is very
daunting. I have to read each page to find the identical link to click on
each page en route to my information. this takes time and energy. It's
very tiresome. i am not complaining, I am trying to explain. I'll do it,
but I want to choose when I am in the mood to do this.
I plan to setup a windows only account soon just to improve my windows
skills. Now I am using a shell account and the two just don't mix. the
computer tends to freeze when I try to telnet to my shell account.
I hope this gives some idea of what I have to do as a strictly braille
user using the computer. I know I might be able to do some of this easier
with the braillenote, but then I'd have to learn a lot more about the
commands. but I feel we have enough frustrations in life, so why try to
use a tool for something it's not really designed for? It's like trying to
demolish a house with a hammer and a browbar! I simply won't do it. It'll
take too long and require too much effort.
thanks.
Isaac
