Hi: - Your HP scanner should have come with HP scan software which is
accessible, the newer scanner models come with ocr scan software called HP
director I suggest using this if you don't have open book or something
similar. Also, if you have XP professional installed on your computer you
can use the scanning tool under the microsoft office suite, this is not an
option on XP home edition though. All the best. - Kim

Hi Again listers.
We have an hp scanner-copier-printer combo. Does anyone know how to get a
good ocr thing going with a device like this?

Richard-- ps, this unit also lets you insert several different storage cards
like Sd and cf cards as well as memory sticks and print from them. The
assumption seems to be that this will be used for pictures, but I got a card
with music (mp3 files) to play using it. It brings up the picture program
also, probably because when I downloaded the albums onto it, it also
downloaded some graphics that were included on the cds. I don't know if this
would make ocr more difficult using this type of device, but if it could be
done without breaking the bank, it might give me access to more I can read
on my bn. While we are on the subject of reading with the bn, will anyone on
this list who scans in books for Bookshare please contact me offlist at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] thanks in advance for the help!
