Hear hear hear. Computers (windows 98se frustrates me. I'm trying to get hooked up with dsl and it's a bear. I get one person telling me I need this because my computer is a dinosaur but when that doesn't work, some one tells me to get something totally different. Think I'm just going to hook up the BN. Thanks for listening to my frustrating time with the computer. I'm glad I back on the group.

Hello Les,

You are right about the need to put up with Windows. It is just
sad that
Microsoft is not entirely in tune with access issues.

The BN, for me, is less frustrating. There would be even less if
more
efficient Tech Support was available. (smile)

Good luck with all your interesting files. (smile)

Warmest regards,

KC

Hi KC,

Happy New Year to you and your family. Well, I must say, the BN
crashes
on
occasion as well. None of these operating systems are perfect
by a long
shot. With Windows, though, more can go wrong, and it's more
difficult to
fix when it does. But we put up with it, as we really don't
have a
choice.
Take care.
Best Regards,

Les

Hi Les,
I hope your New Year is off to a good start. (It is a stormy
beginning
here!)

You aren't alon ein being dissatisfied with Widows. It is why I
prefer a
Bn to a PC. At least, unless the Bn is out of order, I can read
as soon
as
it is on.

take care.

Warmest regards,

KC

Well, it's a personal preference. If you don't have files that
you mind
losing, then a second storage device should not be necessary.
Chances
are
that one device would be enough. All I know is that when
something
happens
in Windows, it's usually not good. I choose to error on the
side of
caution
because of some of the severe crashes I've experienced which
resulted in
unacceptable performance in Windows. Happy New Year to you and
your
family.
Best Regards,

Les

Hello Les,

Well, you are definitely a "computer wiskid" which explains
notonly your
need, but your expertise.

Actually, I was kind of wondering if having an extra drive
would be
necessary for a grandma with small files and a computer klutz!
(smile)

Good luck with all your storageneeds.

Happy New Year.

Hi Kathlene,

Your question is a fair one. For most situations using the BN,
512 MB
is
probably enough storage. If, however, you plan to store files
created
on
your PC, then the 80 GB drive is well worth it. I store
important files
such as my tax returns, Quicken financial management files, etc.
on this
drive. These are filres I could never recreate if they were
lost.
Also,
even if I store them on a flash card, which I also do, I like
the
security
of storing files on more than one drive, which will reduce the
chance of
data loss should a medium go bad.
Best Regards,

Les

Pam,
The entire issue hasme confused. I don't see why a person
wouldneed the
external hard drive if he/she has CF cards?
I've stored a lot on the 512 Cf cards.
