Isaac,
No, this reset doesn't wipe out your modem and disk settings You will have to
reset the date and time, and reinstall the security patch if you so choose, but
everything else will stay intact. Any settings stored in a .cdb file on the
flash disk will stay safe in a reset.

Here is a little chunk of the manual that might help:

iii. Reinitialize with JKL keys held down (Hard Reset).
If KeySoft still does not start, VoiceNote QT's memory may have been corrupted.
If this has happened, then it is necessary to reinitialize the memory. Make
sure the VoiceNote QT is switched on. Hold down JKL keys and gently press the
reset switch with a pointed instrument until it clicks. The VoiceNote QT should
beep immediately. Continue to hold down JKL keys. After about ten seconds
silence, a chime should sound and the VoiceNote QT should speak. Release the
keys. KeySoft reports the software version and prompts for the date and time to
be set.

Sarah,
this voicenote thing is going to send me to the crazy house before the
year is out. <sigh> It doesn't even say in the manual to hold down these
keys until the thing starts to speak. <sigh>
now does this reset wipe out your modem and isp settings?
