Thanks for all the valuable imfo James. I think I had better get good at
the book reader before I start playing around with markers, but it might be
helpful in book in the future.
Thanks again.

question

Hello Terry and list,

If you try to put place markers in a .brf file, .txt file or any other file
type other than Keysoft, they won't stay, at least, that is my
experience. I confirmed this with my M-power by going into a .brf
document. I put three place markers in that document. So long as I was
in that document, I could utilize the place markers. When I was about to
close the document, I was advised that the document has been modified, save
as a Keyword Document? If I were to type Y for yes, it would ask for the
document name and it usually says the name of the original document without
the .brf extention. If you except this filename, your document will be
saved as a Keyword Document but you won't lose the original document. If
you open the new Keyword Document, your place markers would still be there,
ready to use. They wouldn't be in your old .brf document. If you should
have a NLS E-book, keep the original files and save the volume you are
reading as a Keyword Document. Put in a place marker somewhere in the
document you are reading and when you exit the document, you will be asked
whether you would like to save it as a Keyword Document. Once this is
done, you can put up to 26 place markers in your volume that you are
reading. If these aren't enough, you can delete the markers you no longer
need and make new ones. When I'm editing a newsletter for brailling, I use
place marker A for the contents and the rest of them indicate the beginning
of the different articles in the newsletter. They are a big help when
editing the newsletter for brailling. I did all of this in the word
processor but think you can put in place markers in the book reader as well
provided you are dealing with a Keyword document. If in the book reader
and you are reading a .brf file, you will find that the place markers
aren't supported in the .brf file but they are supported in the Keyword
document. I think too one can use the translation menu to convert a .brf
file to Keyword but I think by doing a simple modification of the document
will get you what you might want more easily. There are so many ways to
accomplish some things with a BN. It might be easier to modify the
document in the Word Processor.
