Hi Mary Ellen,
Where did you get a 300 gb hard drive and about how much did it cost?

I'm going to say that the mpower's e-mail client and web browser is
absolutely the best in the business. I can't tell you how many people I
have
told that to. I tell the folks at the blindness and low vision group to
get
the mpower because you get your e-mails with no frills and I am a no
frills
kind of gal and you are done with it.
Jonathan has said billions of times that it is all about efficiency and
the
mpower and all its brothers and sisters give you such a seamless
interface
that you can't tell where you did your work on a pc or a Braille Note
when
doing word documents.
I will say this on this list that a very prominent official from the
competition's company told me 2 years ago at csun to buy a desktop and
not
to buy their machine. It was not alva or elba either but the one we have
been talking about.
So this is why I have stuck with the Braille Note family of products.
But one other thing which totally blew me out of my tree was when that
little mpower grabbed that 300 gb external hard drive and it showed right
up
on the disk menu.

Wow, Jim, great minds think alike! I can't say enough good things about
my
mPower, and I, too, can compare it's behavior to that of a classic. It
has
a few minor problems, none of which are show-stoppers, that I'm trying to
get dealt with, but that will only take time and patience. It's a great
product now, what the BN should have always been. Hats off to Humanware!

Hello all,
The problem that you experience sometimes is the list itself. You are
bound to hear more of the problems that a product might have than you
will
hear how well things are working with that product. One really must keep
a
good perspective and understand with the ever changing software, it is
sometimes hard to keep up with changes. Remember, a 7.0 upgrade has been
promised for all units which may solve a number of issues. Keep in mine
that one's cup is either half full or half empty! It really depends on
one's own personal outlook on the situation.
It is true my M-power has a minor problem with the record feature but I
don't use that much and it does work! The audio streaming is superb and
more MP3 files as well as the .wav files now can be played. The older
units can't play .wav files nor do they have a record feature. . All
flash cards I had, my 1 gig thumb drive and my new SanDisk network card
plus flash card work wonderfully in my M-power. That Wi Fi card won't
work
in my older unit though! Yes, I still need to find a way to get my
M-power
working with my braille embosser but that will happen! The Microsoft
Word
Problem was an issue with the older classic units and still may be an
issue
today. If one has a PC, they can convert those Microsoft Word Files to
an
older version of MSW, or they can convert those files to .rtf and read
with
the BN or M-power. One may be up a creek if one doesn't have a PC. I
for
one have encountered very few Microsoft Word Files I couldn't read.
You can cry in your beer and be left out if you like and that is truly
your
choice! Not everyone is experiencing every problem you read about on
this
list. We might be having one or two of these problems but not every one
of
them that you see memtioned on this list. I can't sing the praises of my
BN long enough or loud enough! I marvel at how short a time it took to
transfer the Bible from one conpact flash card to another! It was ten or
fifteen seconds if that! I have an older BN and I can run it beside the
M-power and there is no comparison! The people at Humanware are
listening! They can't always talk about what is in the wings due to
listening compeditors etc. I've had a BN for four years now and have
seen
many improvements in this product from when I first bought one! I would
say there are problems with any notetaker out there on the market if that
is what you are looking for! Just remember! You are the one that is
missing out on a truly wonderful product! Go ahead and miss out if you
wish, but I'm truly enjoying mine!
