Hi Karen,
No, I haven't yet told them about my keyboard or he dots issue. I hadn't thought that it was my keyboard dying out, I just assumed it was a KS issue since my friend had it too. But I hadn't thought that both our keyboards might be tiring out. I will ask about this and see what can be done. Thanks for teh advice.

Caitlin, you were very clear from the beginning about what your problem 
is. It might be a good idea for you to talk to the repair department 
before your unit comes back.  I wouldn't take a chance on their finding 
your keyboard problem.  Did you ask them to clean your keyboard while it 
was being repaired?  It would be a shame if you had to send it back yet 
again for this random dots issue.

Yes! I get dot 5's as well! I'm so glad you jnderstand, I'm 
totallyconfusing everyone else, haha. I'm bad at explaining this sort of 
thing, but yeah, it's not the display displaying random things, it's that 
the wordprocessor is inserting them, because the keyboard has issues or 
something. My BN is actually in the factory righ now, it randomly died, I 
think because of the battery. I didn't mention he keyboard thing, but 
maybe they'll notice it or something. If it gets worse, i'll have to send 
it back in. I hate to do that though, becuse I'm in school and it's just 
a pain. Hopefully it won't worsen!

Resets won't cure this problem.  I know exactly what you're saying. 
When you're writing in a document, dot 4's show up at random.  I think 
it is your keyboard because my husband writes all the time, and he's had 
his unit for several years.  It's not his touch, either, because we have 
three BraileNotes in our house, so he is using my old 32-cell unit and 
dot 4's never come up, so, Caitlin, you may have to send your unit back 
and have a new keyboard put in.  My husband can't use the unit that is 
randomly inserting dot 4's effectively any more.  In fact, dot 3's are 
showing up now, so it will likely only get worse.

   Well, the braille display itself is fine. what i mean is that dot 
4's get inserted into my word processing documents. Not that it's 
coming up on the display. Sorry, I didn't really make that very 
clear. Interesting, though, taht your sister never had this problem 
even with KS 6-1.

Yes, my sister used the 6.11, and had no trouble.  She received an 
mPower, and the dot four is coming up on that machine.  She had no 
trouble with 6.11.

Hmmm, that's interesting.  So maybe it's just a KS6 thing.  Did

your sister

run KS6 on her classic? I know with my friend Derek, the Dot 4's

just

started showing up a few weeks ago, and for me, they started as

soon as I

got KS6.  Maybe it kicks in after awhile for some people or

something, for

some reason? I'm just fishing in the air here, but it's sure

weird.

Hi All,
   I've noticed that, since I got KeySoft 6 on my BrailleNote BT

Classic, a

lot of dot 4's have been showing up when i type.  I know it's not

because of

how I'm typing because this never happened with the other

versions of KS I

ran previously.  My friend who has the same BrailleNote as I do

has the same

problem.  He explained to me that how a keyboard basically works

is--and I'm

probably getting this mixed up because I'm really not a

techy--that it has

circuitry or microchips or something, and when you pres a button,

the

circuit opens and closes briefly to process the keystroke.  I

said that it

sounded like a hardware problem, then, and why would KS6 have

anything to do

with it, but he said something about how KS6's firmware may have

changed and

made the circuitry more sensitive or something.  But anyway, i

was wondering

if any of you have noticed this same thing.
   Another thing I find with KS6 is that, when reading for long

periods

with speech, the BN sometimes doubles back, and mingles up text

it read four

or five sentences before with the current text.  This can go on

for a minute,

less than a minute, for a few minutes or indefinitely.  When I

stop reading

and start again, it's fine, and the text appears fine with the

display.  My

friend has also had this same problem.  Have any of you noticed

this?

   Sorry if these things have already been discussed, but I'm

curious as to

whether any others of you have noticed these occurrences.  It's

not really

that big a deal *find and replace has become a good friend of

mine in

regards to the dot 4's), but I was just wondering about it.
