Terry, this isn't about me wanting something for nothing because I'm blind. Sighted or blind, when you feel like you're getting something for nothing, it feels good! I work hard for my money so if Humanware had told me, "The shipping is included," even if it was just wrapped up in to the cost, I would have felt like I had come out ahead. I know this is a circular argument and that it sounds silly to want to be hoodwinked. But this is certainly not about blindness. This is about the fact that I'm dropping a big chunk of change, so I want to "feel" like I'm getting a good deal. "feeling" is the name of the game here.
It's not going to happen and folks aren't dropping the "blind card" so I'm bringing a close to this discussion. Every one must like paying more money and you will behave like a good blind person and not complain about it! :-) Rusty ____________________ Skype: rustyperez Yahoo and AIM: reliroo Check out my blog at http://rusty-perez.blogspot.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bray, Terry Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 5:28 AM To: Braillenote List Subject: RE: A sort of retracktion orqualificationwas-RE:[Braillenote]Gougingthe blind community Bravo: added to that the cost of fuel weather they ship express weather they insure. Sorry folks this is a totally ridiculous subject. This has absolutely nothing to do with blindness and unless your willing to ship through the mail your going to pay for it. HumanWare does not dictate to the shipping company how much they need to charge and the shipper hardly gives a dam weather you can see or not. Your dealing with equipment that cost thousands not a book or a compact flash card this is about blind people thinking they should get things for nothing. 45 is really not a lot to pay for insured currier services. At least I assume its insured however when you are dealing with what is technically fragile expensive equipment its better to be safe than sorry. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sarai Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 6:58 PM To: 'Braillenote List' Subject: RE: A sort of retracktion or qualificationwas-RE:[Braillenote]Gougingthe blind community Rusty, No matter what you buy, you'll have to pay shipping. I had to pay it when I bought my Dell computer. Our church had to pay it when they bought a $3000 tape machine. The price doesn't matter. Your still going to pay shipping. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rusty Perez Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 5:40 PM To: 'Braillenote List' Subject: RE: A sort of retracktion or qualification was-RE:[Braillenote]Gougingthe blind community Virgie, I'm not asking for a free lunch, particularly because I'm blind. I am saying that I'm paying thousands of dollars for the equipment, to tack on a $45 charge seems some how insulting. WE aren't going to agree on this, and some people don't mind throwing money around. I felt nickled and dimed. ____________________ Skype: rustyperez Yahoo and AIM: reliroo Check out my blog at http://rusty-perez.blogspot.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of VIRGIE UNDERWOOD Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 3:10 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: A sort of retracktion or qualification was-RE: [Braillenote]Gougingthe blind community Hey friend, There is no free lunch. Amazon has many more shoppers than does Humanware and other companies who sell Braille Notetakers to the blind. The real truth is that we have to pay shipping costs and insurance costs just like the rest of the world. Blindness does not give us special treatment for shipping on products. Grin!
