This is Joseph. To clarify the "note" thing: a hard
disk or a floppy disk or any storage devices uses what
is called file system to organize the data on it. A
file system is a system that tells a device to
organize data. There are number of file systems out
there. The notables ones are NTFS (New Technology File
System) and FAT (File Allocation Table) 32 bit
version, commonly known as FAT32. In reallity Windows
CE devices like BrailleNote uses file system to store
and organize data. (I'm not sure about that.) The note
thing I wrote last time concerns the file system that
is compatible with BrailleNote. I had a similar
incident where I formatted my 1 GB CF card using NTFS.
When I inserted the card, BrailleNote said,
"formatting the card with FAT32 file system." I found
out later that BrailleNote will recognize the card if
I have formatted the card with FAT or FAT32 not NTFS.
This also applies to hard disks and so on. You don't
really have to worry about file systems and so on. I
hope this information may help you.

p.s. The FAT has many version. The version used in
floppy disk is called FAT12, and the FAT used in CF
cards up to 2 GB is known as FAT16. The FAT used in CF
cards above 4 GB and hard disk is known as FAT32, and
that the file system that is widely used to format
external hard disk.
