Hello All: This question has got me curious, so I've been trying a bunch of different headphones on my MPower QT to try and improve FM reception. I've actually tried about 8 at this point and can honestly tell you, that its not the quality of the headphones that makes a difference, but the length of the cable. If any of you have gone out to your local electronics store and asked for an FM antenna for your home stereo, then you know how cheap and cheesy they can be. They are usually made up of about 4 to 6 feet of cable that is, I think, about 20 gage. about half the size of an average telephone cable.
I've strapped everything from a $3 pair of ear buds to my most expensive ($250) studio Koss headphones to my MPower and haven't noticed that much of a difference here around my apartment in Lubbock. Believe it or not, all that being said, the best reception I'm getting is on a pair of ear buds from Phillips (model SBCHS320) which I think I got at Wal-Mart. They are very similar to the ear buds that used to be issued by Humanware with the classic BrailleNotes. Now, the FM reception may not be much better, but you should hear how wonderful .mp3 files sound with a really good pair of headphones on the MPower. I don't know how they managed to get that much stereo separation into that little box, but I'm blown away every time I listen to a piece with good audio production. hth Jeff ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
