Sorry, That sure does confuse things. I suppose I shouldn't give my advise or opinions on stuff I haven't tried. :-) I was certain that another option would have been added in the list of bluetooth services as part of the upgrade to allow you to use BlueTooth as the connection means for speech or braille display. I hope I'll get around to testing that sometime soon. I probably won't succeed, but in case I do I'll let you know how. There really should be something in the manual about that.

However, when on the BN you turn BlueTooth on, Sirch for devices, and pick the computer, the list of services only contains: ActiveSync, Modem and printer as supported services. There are a couple other unsupported services. Since you have to pick one to pair the two, which one should I pick? It seems to me that ActiveSync is the only reasonable one. Also, as I said in my original post, I can find nothing on this in the manual so if someone knows where to find info on this, I am more than happy to go read up on it <grin> Scott -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Sarah Van Oosterwijck Sent: Friday, January 27, 2006 3:23 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Using BN as Braille display via Bluetooth I really think activesync has nothing to do with the procedure, so I would try disabling activesync before installing and running your BrailleNote as a braille terminal with Window-Eyes. I'm no longer a Window-Eyes user, so I don't know the procedure for setting up a braille display, so don't ask me about the details. I just know that activesync is a problem not an asset when using a BraileNote as a display with JAWS, which I haven't tried with bluetooth yet, because I just got my keysoft upgrade completed about 15 minutes ago. :-) Sarah Van Oosterwijck Assistive Technology Trainer http://home.earthlink.net/~netentity ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, January 27, 2006 12:57 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Using BN as Braille display via Bluetooth Good morning Robert. Yes, I am using Window-Eyes. If you have any comments/insights, I would be more than happy to hear them. My situation is the following: I do not have ActiveSync working yet because my Bluetooth cereal port is set to 14 and I so far have been unable to change it to anything lower than that, and according to Dean Jackson, ActiveSync will only use ports less than 10. So, I may have to fix that first. What is happening: On my Computer, I have told Window-Eyes to use the BrailleNote as the Braille display and use com-14 (the Bluetooth cereal port). I can get the BN and computer paired by activating ActiveSync. When I try going to the BrailleTerminal, and selecting Bluetooth, it tells me "cereal port not available" Now, for an interesting experiment: I tried activating the modem Bluetooth profile on the BN. Next on the BN I went to BrailleTerminal and said to use Bluetooth. The BN connected to the computer just fine. Of course, it did not work as a Braille display, but it did connect. I hope my rambling made some since <grin> Thanks for any help. If you are using Window-Eyes, I might be able to help. If you are using jaws, I am afraid you will have to try someone else.
