JAWS.

Hi Jane,
The extra functionality in the Braille terminal mode will only
work in
KeySoft 7 as there were changes in this version of KeySoft. It
isn't just
the PC software that makes this all happen.

Thanks for clarifying. I haven't actually downloaded it. I
grabbed Keysync and . grab the keyboard emulator tonight. I
haven't installed 7.0--will it work with 6.0 or 6.1?

Hi Jane,
Well, I'm guessing you saw the instructional file when you opened
that
folder--meaning the KeySoft-Jaws keyboard emulator utility.doc
file?
Anyway,
when it talks about extracting the files to the Jaws install
folder, it
means where the main Jaws files are for your version of Jaws.
For example,
mine are in:
c:\program files\Freedom Scientific\Jaws\7.0
So, when I extracted those four files, that is where I put them.
Well,
actually, in my case, to make things easier for myself since I
was having
problems getting things to work, I ran another
version of Jaws while doing this copying of files. So, with Jaws
6.20
running and talking, I copied those files to the Jaws 7.0 folder
mentioned
above. Then, I closed that version of Jaws and restarted Jaws
7.0 and
followed the rest of the instructions in the document.

Hi Jane,
You can set the bn to input data with jfw using the bn as a
braille
terminal. I use window eyes and the procedure is much easier,
but I
believe you have to
install a set of special drivers on the pc in order for jfw to
recognize
the input keystrokes.
There is a file somewhere containing the documentation and
drivers for
this, but not sure if it's on the hw download site or if you have
to
specifically ask Dean
for it.
I thought he might respond to your question, but decided to tell
you what
I do know about it in the meantime.
I believe this only works with keysoft 7, but I well could be
wrong about
that.
