Andy,
There seems to be a misunderstanding.
I feel, personally, that for a deaf-blind, and possibly many blind consumers,
a BN is a better buy than a PC. I am no longer employed. Access to the new
system the employer used is why I left_ There was no way any of us, using a
screenreader and/or braille display, could deal with "virtual desktop." (FYI:
Since my unplanned retirement, my employer has been compelled, by Dpt of
Justice, to provide an altrnative means for blind employees to access
information and perform work-related tasks.)
I don't have a problem paying for upgrades. What I feel badly about is the
need to pay for a bunch of stuff I will never use while waiting for
improvements in functions the device already offers.
As for being like the rest of humanity, here is an analogy: A person buy a
new car. If they want a stero or tape deck/CD player, they pay extra. In other
words they have a choice. I'm told itis much cheaper to purchase and install
a stero or tapedeck.
The BN Classic didn't fall by the wayside. Many still use it or had them
transplanted.
