This is Joseph. You don't have to install ActiveSync. On the BN side, when
mPower prompts you to choose the port, choose Bluetooth. At the PC side,
select the Com port to where Bluetooth adapter is plugged-in, such as Com 3.
>From JAWS windows, go to Options, then select Braille. At the Braille
display options dialog box, select Add buton. When JAWS says things about
braille components, navigate until you reach BrailleNote. Uncheck the box if
it is checked, then check it again. Click on Next. When it asks you for the
Com port, select the Com port associated with the Bluetooth adapter. Click
on Next several times, and at the last screen, click Finish button. You
jmust restart JAWS after this procedure. I hope this information may help
you.
P.S. Make sure that Bluetooth is active on both sides, and start Braille
terminal before starting JAWS.

Subject: [Braillenote] Using Bluetooth

Hi Everyone

I have enjoyed reading the recent discussions on list. I agree I hope
something can be done to improve access to certain Word files.

My question at the moment relates to using the BrailleNote as a Braille
display via bluetooth. I have downloaded the Jaws PC Keyboard Emulator and
have read the instructions provided. I have managed to get the BrailleNote
connected via serial port but am having no luck with bluetooth. I saw a
couple of references to needing Active Sync and this is what I am seeking
clarification about. I do not want to transfer files between my PC and
mPower via Active Sync as I use other methods for this. I want simply to use
the mPower as my display. Do I need to have Active Synnc installed on the PC
in order for this to happen? I was attributing my problem to the fact I am
using a bluetooth adapter on my PC but I do not currently have Active Sync
installed on it so wondered if that is actually the issue. There are two
bluetooth ports - com4 and com8 - and I have tried configuring both of these
to Jaws (at different times) with no success. Any advice welcome.

Cheers
Paula.
