I am personally not in favor of a grammar checking program, but it is
not because of an irrational bias against any particular piece of
software.
It is simply that grammar checking programs tend to find errors that are
in fact not errors.
I believe that proof reading and care are the best cures for poor
writing.  It astounds me when I read some of the email that is posted to
this list as well as others.  No punctuation, no capitalization, and
incredible spelling.  I see it on all lists, and I can't imagine why
people who write such poorly thought out email don't realize how badly
such writing reflects on them.
