Hi, I live in Australia and a friend e-mailed me some books that were zipped
and I saved them on to my Compact flash card then unzipped them on my voice
note and also gave them to another friend that also has a voice note. We had
no problems unzipping these two books and reading them. When it asks for our
password we just hit enter and there was no problems. We were running 6.11
at the time but I have downloaded some more zipped books that when I have
time I will move over to my Voice note and unzip them with 7.0 hopefully.

Sarah:

I didn't look for the utility and I suspect the real reason had to do
with the fact that since I couldn't use book share I had no interest.

O yes and for the list I don't live in the UK. Please don't move me
there with out my knowing. In fact all BN's in north America are us
doesn't matter if your in us or Canada.

Have you tried unzipping a file with the utility? For instance, go to
Project Gutenberg's website, download a book, and see if you can unzip
it. Thanks for chasing this down for us.

Sarah

Hi,

My BrailleNote has the Bookshare utility on it, and it has a UK serial
number.

Hi Joseph,

---Joseph Lee quoted: p.s. At this tile, the BookShare service is only
applicable for US

Joseph, by the above, do you mean that the utility itself is unusable by

a person in the UK, or just that the Bookshare service is not available
to a UK resident? There seems to be some confusion here, (which could
just be me, <Smile>), so I'm trying to get it straight in my head. Are
you saying a UK resident couldn't use the Bookshare utility to unzip,
say, a file from Project Gutenberg? Thanks.

Sarah

This is Joseph. Good suggestion. I think this should be grouped under
the
submenu called "zip file manager." It can include what others had said
e.g.
compression and uncompression of zip files, ability to add and delete
files
in the .zip archive or the archive itself, etc. I have another idea.
Perhaps
the .zip files can be treated as a directory in KeySoft once compression
utility is introduced.
p.s. At this tile, the BookShare service is only applicable for US
residents.

Hi,

I think not only should it have an unzip program, but it should have a
zip program as well. Perhaps have a couple of items off the file
manager: "Compress Files" and "Uncompress File".

The Uncompress item is simple: upon selection is asks for the source
file (*.zip), asks for the destination folder, and unzipps, after which
is prompts the user to delete the zip file to free up disk space.

The compress option could work like attachments, I.E.: Select Source
file, then prompt "Select another file?" If yes, go back and select
another file. If a "*" is entered at the file prompt, the entire folder
is compressed and there is no further prompt. Finally the BN could ask
for the destination (*.zip) file, and the process is finnished.

Thoughts?

Hey all,
I think the Braillenote should have a unzipping program or
something simiq. A lot of files are compressed in zip form and
the BN won't unzip them anymore.
