Hi Rhonda,

Well, you were half right anyway.
With KeySoft 7, even on the classic, it insists on having the power adapter plugged in when doing the battery drain mode until it drives you crazy, etc.

However, if you do it in these steps it actually works. I did it on three classics. 1. Leave it charging for at least three hours. It will still say that the battery gage is not accurate and needs to be recallibrated. 2. Unplug the adapter and run it until it goes flat. I did this by inserting a lot of files into one file, setting the speech rate to 1 and the volume up very high with earphones plugged into it. I then started it reading the document, which was about 650 pages. 3. When it freezes up, plug the adapter back in for at least three hours. The battery gage will now give an accurate reading.
I double checked by going into support mode and hitting the letter A.

I am sending this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as well, though I doubt that will do any good.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the extra frustration I probably added to your week.

Sincerely,
Richard

Richard, I have a classic, too. What I am saying, with the M Power, it has to be plugged in. You and I have the classic. You have to unplug it to drain it.
