When you modify your appointment, you must first make sure that you
are sitting on your appointment, i.e. open the planner and go to the
date of your appointment. Then. Go to the time of the specific
appointment you want to change. Going to the date isn't good enough
because you may have more than one appointment on any given day, and
you have to tell the BN which appointment you mean. Remember, the BN
is a computer, a literal beasty. You have to give it specific and
detailed and exact instructions. I'd put the cursor on the numbersign
of the current time that has been set. For example, if you go to
Tuesday, February 21, you want to be sure your cursor is on the
appointment you want to change. Say you have two appointments that
day, one at 10:00 and one at 2:00. You have to tell the BN which
appointment you want to change. Even if you only have one appointment
that day, you must place the cursor on the time of the appointment
because other wise, the BN will still not know what you want to do.
You have to point at the exact appointment and say, "Here, this one is
the one I want changed." Here's what to do.
1. Get to your modify command, think you said ctrl-r. You will be
presented with the time of the appt. The BN will say, appointment
time, currently 2:00 p. Just type in the time you want, e.g. 3:00 p.
Then hit 'enter'. The BN will say, end-time or length: currently
(here it will modify the time automatically, giving your appointment
the length of time you specified earlier.) In other words, if you
changed the time from 2:00 p to 3:00 p and the length of the appt. was
an hour, it will say 4:00 p. If you like that, hit 'enter". Then,
because you don't want to change anything else, simply hit escape.
The BN will say, modify this appointment? You type y and voila,
you're done. The BN will say, Appointment updated.

You mean two fields down, not files. The appointment calendar is a
database, and each bit of information is a field. Each appointment is
a record. Just to clarify terminology here, folks.
