Mona, no, not if you mean access to the modem only.  You will need the
password to go into the modem's software and change anything on your
network, if you have one.  

Now, if you're talking about a wireless card for a wireless network,
then you will need a password for that as well.  It's called a WEP
Code.  When your network is configured, you need this code in order to
access the network.  If you do not put a security code on your
network, it will be open to anyone who wants to access it.
