Thanks Joseph for all your work. You can see I have a lot to learn, I sure
never knew aski and text were the same.
Thanks again for this pot of gold. When they get my embosser working, this
will be one of the first to be embossed.
Thanks again.

This is Joseph. There is an excellent site where it lists all the file types
that is known. I'll try to do my best to list the files that KeySoft uses.
1. Literary files:
.kwt (KeyWord Text): the default file format for BrailleNote QT users (also
known as Text Document KeyWord Type).
.kwb (KeyWord Braille): the default file format for BrailleNote BT (also
known as Braille Document KeyWord Type).
.txt (ASCII Text file): used on notepad, this is the universal file format
used by PC's. This is the simplest file format.
.doc (MS Word file): the file format used by Microsoft Word (in Office 2003,
an additional format, .xml, is also supported).
.rtf (Rich Text Format): Another universally availible format.
.brf (Literary Braille): a common format for braille document.
.brl (Literary Braille): another braille file format, although less common
than .brf format.
2. Media files:
.mp3 (MPEG Layer version 3): a well-known format for media files. A 1 minute
CD-quality file may take approx 1 MB of disk space. This format is widely
availible.
.wma (Windows Media Audio): A file format used by Windows Media Player. This
file format is also widely availible.
.wmv (Windows Media Video): A video-encoding format used by Windows Media
Player.
.wav (Pure Wave Format Sound): A popular format for wave sound files (when
you record memos, BrailleNote will save the file in .wav format.).
.m3u (mp3 playlist): A type of playlist used by many media players. It
consists of file names ending in mostly .mp3 extension.
.pls (playlist): Another common playlist format.
3. System files:
.exe (Executable): A common file format for application programs. Not all
programs are compatible.
.dll (Dynamic Link Library): A common file format that is associated with
device drivers.
.sys (System file): A file format used by files that operating system uses
for various purposes.
.com (Command Prompt): A program format used by DOS.
.cdb (Database): A database format used by Windows CE.
4. Specific file formats used by KeySoft:
.kbs (KeyBase only): A database file used by Database Manager (KeyBase.).
.kpt (KeyPlan Text calendar): A file format used by Planner (KeyPlan) on
KS5.0 and lower (QT only).
.kpb (KeyPlan Braille calendar): A file format used by Planner (KeyPlan) on
KS5.0 and lower (BT only).
.klt (KeyList file): A file file format used by Address List (KeyList).
5. Miscellaneous file formats:
.url (Uniform Resource Locator): A file format used by Internet Explorer to
store favorites.
.poi (Points Of Interest): A file format used by BrailleNote GPS to store
User or default Points of Interests.
.z1-.z8 (Z Code machine language): A popular Text Adventure game format
developed by Inficom that is the most widely known game format (BrailleNote
supports Z Code version 5 (.z5) and Z Code version 8 (.z8) games.).
I hope this information may help you.
P.S. I did not list file formats used by DAISY players since KeySoft doesn't
have DAISY player.

Hi Everyone;
Is there some place or would someone be willing to put together a good
explination of all these literary and music files. How do we know one from
the other.
These MP3, dazy and wav are a mistory to me.
I am sure an explination would also help a lot of new users too.
thanks for any help. I feal like I am starting to learn a new machine.
