To call devices like the Reading Edge scanners is misleading and is the source
of the confusion/misunderstanding regarding what one may and may not do with
respect to the Note family and scanning/reading
material. Devices like the old reading Edge are best referred to as stand alone
reading machines or something similar, so as not to confuse them with scanners.
Scanners can't be used with a braille or voice note.
You have to connect them to a pc to run the ocr software that turns the image
produced by the scanner into text that can be read using speech or braille,
either on the pc where the ocr process happened, or on
some other device, such as a voice or braille note, to which you have
exported/downloaded the document.
