I can tell you what you need to do to install keynote drivers to a version of JAWS that isn't acknowledged by the keynote synthesizer driver installation program that you can download from the humanware site, but that doesn't mean I've gotten my BrailleNote to work as a remote synthesizer with bluetooth. I don't know where to type in the correct com port. I'd be happy to give you installation directions for the rest of the process if you write to me off list.
If someone can tell me exactly where and what to type in jfw.ini to switch the com port where JAWS is loading my keynote I'd be extremely happy. My synth is currently on com 1, but I don't see a statement to that affect in the ini file where I see the lines that load the synthesizer driver. If I could switch from com 1 to com 6 then maybe I could use bluetooth instead of serial. Ideally I'd be able to have two keynote synthesizers installed for JAWS, one the keynote gold hardware synthesizer that i use now on com 1, and the BrailleNote using bluetooth on com 6. Obviously I wouldn't use them at the same time, but I would like to switch between them. It's a great thing that the driver for the BN and the hardware synth are the same, but really annoying that they have the same name. Maybe someone could tell me the line to add to the same file for using my BN as a braille display without having to reinstall it. Again I would just need to tell JAWS that the display is on com 6 instead of com 1, but at least with JAWS 7 that is not an option because it is past com 4. Maybe that is what changed from version 7 to version 7.1 beta? Why do I always want to do something a little strange. Being able to think of creative ways to use technology is sometimes a real curse instead of a blessing. <smile> Sarah Van Oosterwijck Assistive Technology Trainer http://home.earthlink.net/~netentity ----- Original Message ----- From: Vicky Collins To: Braillenote List Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 4:11 PM Subject: [Braillenote] Jaws keyboard emulator again Hi Alex and All, Well, although I haven't gotten the KeyNote speech to work yet, I did manage to get the keyboard emulator to work with Jaws 7.10. Guess with that installation method changing, the place to put those unzipped files also changed. Try putting them in: c:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\7.10\drivers\braille\brlnote And, when you're asked about replacing the one driver file that is already there, meaning the JLB file, say yes to replace it. ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote -- No virus found in this incoming message.
