Hi Chaman:

A TTY application would allow the BN/VN to function like a TTY for
someone who is deaf. With the Braille Display, it would be of great
benefit to individuals who are Deaf-Blind. It connects to a telephone
line, and when the person using the BN/VN calls someone with a TTY or
receives a TTY call, they can read what the caller on the other end is
typing and type back to the caller. Of course, they can also use
something like this to call Relay services to communicate with persons
who can hear.

Freedom Scientific has a TTY application for the Pacmate, it's called
FSTTY. It costs $1200 over and above the cost of a Pacmate. It
includes software and a special modem called a Boto modem which can read
and send TTY signals.
