Hi Virgie, I currently own a Nokia 6682 with speech software. I do not currently own gps software for the phohne, but I have tried out a couple of possibilities. With varying success. Talks perports to work with the Wayfinder software which is the most expensive of those I've seen. Wayfinder costs $99. It seems like you get access to the maps for a year.
There are a few things to consider. How does the phone determine where you are? Some programs use the GPRS system which basically pinpoints your location based on where you are relative to the cell sites. This won't work in the woods. Some software allows you to use a bluetooth GPS receiver which you must purchase separately costing at most $300 or so. Also, where does the phone get the map info? Does the software store the maps on your phone, or does it use the cell gprs system to access and retrieve map info. Different programs do it differently, but the Wayfinder software seems to grab the map info from survers it accesses from the cell sites, again, not useful in the woods, unless it downloads a map for the general area and gives you coordinates from there. In short, I don't have all the answers yet, but it seems promising. Several dial-a-ride drivers use gps on their phones and it seems to work well, though, again, I don't know what software they use, and how, exactly, it will work with speech. I'm still searching.
